Start a new NativeScript application

How to create a new NativeScript application? In this article we explain the basic steps to setup your environment, choose a template, open Visual Studio Code and run the application.

Prerequisites for this article are the installation of NativeScript, Android Emulator and Visual Studio Code on a Windows 10 machine.

Create a new project using command line

cd c:\myapps
tns create HelloWorldApp --template tns-template-blank-ng

Open code base in Visual Studio Code

cd c:\myapps\HelloWorldApp
code .

Start the app in the emulator run

tns run android

This will start an Android Emulator with our newly created app.

HelloWorlApp started in Android Emulator
